Research & Innovation
Turning peripheral insights into essential drivers of organisational change. I work with founders and leaders who need research that doesn’t just inform decisions but fundamentally reshapes how they think about their business.
The approach
I combine strategic thinking, hands-on research and prototyping to create research that speaks the language of business transformation. The work focuses on crafting the narrative that connects user experience to organisational direction by examining both transactional and experiential aspects.
This means understanding the touchpoints where users interact with your service alongside the deeper value these interactions hold for them. Narrative design becomes the framework that creates genuinely inspiring approaches, meaningful and relevant to user experience while driving business outcomes.
Twenty-three years across healthcare, AI and emerging technologies. Royal College of Art foundation in research methodology. I think in narrative design and ecosystems, building integrated and holistic approaches that transform how organisations create and design their services.
What this looks like in practice
Research design: Framing the questions that matter to your business, connecting user insight to revenue impact, competitive positioning and strategic risk.
Fieldwork and analysis: Deep qualitative research, contextual studies, pattern recognition across user behaviours and business systems. I am resolutely hands-on, conducting research myself, leading the work directly.
Prototyping and frameworks: Translating insights into tangible artefacts. Service blueprints, experience prototypes, strategic frameworks that make abstract insights concrete and actionable.
Implementation guidance: Working directly with product and engineering teams to ensure insights translate into actual change.
Recent engagements
Healthcare AI: Creating explainable AI (XAI) strategies that transform disconnected generative outputs into coherent, trustworthy insights for medical professionals.
Web3 education: Developing learning experiences for next-generation onchain users. Making complex technical concepts accessible without oversimplification.
UK Government (NHS): Led service design for the Covid Pass. Navigating regulatory complexity, public trust and technical constraints while keeping human experience central.
Global health-tech company: Redesigned research approach to focus on patient experience narratives and compliance risk. Research shifted from informing product features to shaping how leadership thought about their entire product direction.
Typical scope
Strategic audit (6-8 days): Initial exploration for organisations with a starting point who want to dive deeper before committing to a full engagement. Diagnostic assessment of current research capabilities and strategic opportunities.
Research sprint (4-6 weeks): Focused engagement combining research design, fieldwork and strategic recommendations. Ideal for specific challenges or new product directions.
Strategic partnership (3-6 months): Sustained engagement for organisations undergoing transformation. Deep integration with leadership and product teams, ongoing research and implementation support.
The work is always bespoke, shaped by your specific challenges and organisational context. I work directly with you and your teams, leading the transformation rather than through third parties.
